Journalist & Documentary Filmmaker
Syed Jazib Ali has worked as the Editor of Jammu and Kashmir's prominent & widely-read publication Udaan for 3 years. He started his career as a documentary filmmaker with a travel observatory documentary film focused on the troubled border areas of conflicted Jammu and Kashmir. Later, his Second documentary film focussing on a case of wrongful imprisonment in New Delhi won him the Best Documentary award at NDFF. He has also worked as a freelance photographer in the early years of his graduation and one of his portraits taken in Russia on a volunteer project was published on Your shot National Geographic website. He is now pursuing his postgraduate studies in Journalism and Documentary at the University of Sussex, UK.

This picture was taken in the summer of 2014 in UFA, Russia during a cultural festival. It got published in the Your Shot Daily Dozen Competition of National Geographic on 3rd March 2015.
THE SHEPHERD GIRL
This portrait of a shepherd girl was taken while on a camping trip in the mountains of the remotest part of Indian administered Kashmir. She belonged to a tribal gypsy family with no permanent home and always on a move. This picture won the Member selection award at Viewbub.
THE CHILDREN OF WAR
This picture was taken in a madrassa near the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir. The particular area has witnessed a long ongoing conflict between the two countries. This picture won the Staff Winter selection award 2015 and later Top Shot and Lucky 3 award at ViewBug.

Volunteer Project Sunshine
In the summer of 2014, Ali was on an AIESEC cultural Volunteer program "Project Sunshine" in the UFA city of Russia. He stayed at a school gymnasium in a small town named Ishinbay for a month and interacted with the students and teachers. He held seminars breaking the language barrier which is a well-known challenge in the small towns of Russia. The local media also covered the project and he was on local newspapers and television.
